My friend and colleague Lorraine Sommerfeld has written some jaw-droppingly-good articles over the years, but she's outdone herself with this one, which is all about how people are going to be bad drivers no matter what, because they just don't care.
I just got back from a road trip, and sure enough, when the highway was two lanes, almost everyone drove on the right and passed on the left. When it opened to three lanes, half the drivers pulled into the middle one and stayed there, like brainless morons, gumming up the whole damn thing so that nobody could drive the highway properly.
Read her article here. And weep.
