Not the newspaper or pixel kind, but actual writing: ink on paper, preferably with a fountain pen. I'm a pen collector and occasionally I posted items here on my obsession love of the handwritten word, but I finally decided to create a separate blog just for fellow stylophiles. All I want for Christmas is ...

Well, not much, actually - I don't do the Christmas gift thing. But I must for the Toronto Star, which asks for a list of car-related gifts for its special Christmas edition each year. Mine run from a $2 box of window wipes to that gorgeous Montegrappa pen shown here, celebrating Alfa Romeo and a steal at $1,720. Read all about it by clicking here.

Cross C-Series: A pen for car fans

  

I wrote the cover story of the April 2009 issue of Pen World magazine (yes, there really are magazines for my addiction) on the Cross C-Series, a new auto-inspired model. There's a copy available through the link to the right under "Magazine Features," with the title "Start Your Engines!"

Pens: More than I thought I had ...

  Several friends have asked about my pen collection, so I thought I'd photograph them and put up an album. It seems I do have more than I originally thought I had ... anyway, you can find the album off to the right.

What's Ferrari got to do with a pen?

  Quite a bit, if you're David Seibert, former racecar driver, race official, and the man behind the Ferrari Challenge racing series. He's also a pen collector, and the focus of a story I did for Pen World magazine, published in the December 2008 edition. You can find it here.
