I recently had the opportunity to go to Japan, and of course I had to find a pen store. The Japanese make beautiful pens that write as good as they look, and what better souvenir than this?
It's a Pilot Custom Legance, which I bought because I thought it was lovely. I later found out it's pretty much only available in Japan, which makes it an even cooler find.
Even buying a pen there is quite the experience. The sales clerk polished it before putting it in the box, gave me a choice of colors for the cartridge she included, and then showed me several leather-look pen cases and asked which color I'd prefer.
The icing on the cake was that there were several copies of Pen World magazine on the counter, with a story I'd written featured on the cover. I hadn't yet looked through the magazine, because it had arrived on the day I'd left. I noticed a page was marked, and when I turned to it, it was a story on the store I was in!
